Background
Healthcare workers and policy makers around the world struggle to reach crucial diagnostic information, especially where connectivity is limited. FIND needed a unified platform that served very different audiences while coping with bandwidth constraints and multiple languages.
Process
- Research and strategy
- Desk immersion, then interviews with 15 lab technicians and 5 policy makers. Benchmarking against WHO partner platforms, LMIC accessibility requirements and journey mapping for key workflows.
- Information architecture
- Mobile-first, low-bandwidth designs, integration with the DxConnect platform, a multilingual framework and flexible component patterns built to WCAG 2.1 AA.
- What we shipped
- A test directory, resource centre, virtual biobank, impact stories with data visualisation, and a regional content hub.
- Testing
- Three rounds of usability testing, cross-browser and device testing, low-bandwidth optimisation and multilingual validation.
Solution
- Equitable access
- Progressive enhancement for low bandwidth, mobile-first content structure and multi-language support.
- Unified experience
- An integrated DxConnect hub, streamlined navigation and consistent global components across devices.
- Performance first
- Load time cut from 8+ seconds to around 3 to 4, with bandwidth-efficient assets and structured data.
